Branch Campus - University Internationalization Abroad in the Global Competition

The Tempus Public Foundation and the Center for International Higher Education Studies of the Corvinus University of Budapest jointly organized the event entitled Branch Campus - University Internationalization Abroad in the Global Competition, which is hoped to be the basis of a long-term, fruitful cooperation between the two organisations.
A total number of 54 participants representing 24 institutions, coming from 9 different countries attended the conference and listened to the presentations about the establishment and operation of branch campuses in theory and practice. The event was opened by Professor Christine Ennew, Provost of the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. Professor József Berács talked about the previous attempts of establishing a Corvinus campus abroad, followed by Attila Jenei’s presentation of the University of Debrecen’s programs running in South Korea.
In the second part of the morning sessions Jan Sadlak, President of IREG Observatory, held a presentation about the dimension of rankings’ internationalization. He was followed by Liviu Matei, Deputy Director of CEU, sharing best practices of his institution. The session was closed with the presentation of Zsolt Fekete, Deputy Head of the Department at the Education's Office, introducing the legal issues with regard to establishing a campus abroad.
In the afternoon the participants were offered an opportunity to have a thorough discussion about the geographic trends and market opportunities with Christine Ennew, as well as about dual/multiple and joint degrees with Jan Sadlak.
