The project of Central European Higher Education Cooperation (CEHEC) currently brings together eight partners from all Visegrad countries with significant expertise in applied research in the area of higher education policy and science policy. The main aim is to build a professional network for sharing expertise, successes stories, and new ideas, and to provide support to the relevant stakeholders in higher education in addressing challenges the V4 countries’ are facing in this sector.
The project focuses explicitly on identifying and helping to address key issues in higher education and science policy in Central Europe due to the absence of such a forum at present and rather limited experience/expertise-sharing in this area among these countries. An increased cooperation among the V4 group will help identify regional ‘success’ stories, successful and effective policy approaches, as well as shared challenges. Moreover, the visibility of higher education in the V4 region on the international debate arena (policy discussions, higher education research, and scientific journals) is rather limited. Development of a network of regional experts will help promote Central European higher education in the global higher education discussions.
We wish to expand the network in the future involving partners from Austria, Germany, the Baltic countries as well as from South-East Europe.
